Manchester United looking to steal Fabregas
2017 has been a transformational year for Manchester United. The team looks completely different from the side that finished a lowly sixth in last year Premier League. A lot of the credit for that transformation is the arrival of Nemanja Matic to the midfield. Chelsea let Matic go and have regretted that decision while United fans cheered the steal.
Unfortunately for Chelsea, it looks like United looks to continue with stealing players from the club. If the rumors are true, Jose Mourinho is trying to lure one of his former charges: Francesc ‘Cesc’ Fabregas.
“I personally believe, as I have said on here on numerous occasions, believe that Fabregas would be a great signing because what he offers to a team with his knowledge of our game and experience.”
Fabregas holds the league record for assists and is currently in the form of his life. He is the creative spark that Chelsea (and Manchester United) needs to make them title challengers. He is also the player with the least amount of matches to reach the 100 assist mark:
Premier League appearances to 100 assists:
Fabregas – 293
Giggs – 367
Rooney – 445
Lampard – 559
Chelsea’s response is to offer Fabregas an early extension to his contract, which still has 18 months to go. However, by their own rules, Chelsea can only give single-year extensions for players over 30 years old. United does not have this limitation and will everything it can to lure the player. However, there is no guarantee that the move is a good one, given the history between Mourinho and Fabregas.
